Tale of Two Cities
The two main towns of Tamba are Sasayama and Kaibara, Sasayama being the historical/cultural center of the area, and Kaibara being home to a good variety of shopping and entertainment (i.e., karaoke and bowling). Newcomers to Sasayama might want to check out the Sasayama guide on the cities website: www.city.sasayama.hyogo.jp
Sasayama Childrens Museum
This is a fantastic place to visit if you have a free day and a car and want to explore your inner child... (or if you have kids). This museum is more like a playground with a lot of displays for you to touch and explore. The outside area also includes a huge bubble making station and occasionally they hold special workshops for children. Entry is free for children 3 years or under and then prices range from \100 for elementary and junior high school kids to \500 for high school students and adults.

Konda Megumori Onsen
This place is much easier to get to by car but if you don't have one it's a 10 minute taxi ride from Furuichi station, and there is also a bus from Aino station.

Tamba Foods
There are three products that Tamba is famous for, 黒豆 (black beans), 栗 (chestnuts) and 猪 (wild boar). A wild-boar dish that comes highly recommended is "Botan Nabe" (牡丹鍋), named after the peony flower which it is supposed to resemble when laid out on the plate (don't worry, you cook it before you eat it)
