Contents

Toyooka(豊岡)

Kinosaki (城崎)

Izushi(出石)

Hidaka (日高)

Yabu (養父)

Yoka (八鹿)

Izakaya Tanigaki (和風居酒屋谷垣)

Izakaya Tanigaki, where the young and beautiful of Yoka can be found! This is a great Japanese-style izakaya. It can be difficult to order if your Japanese isn't up to par. The menu is Japanese only with no pictures and the staff only speak a little English. However, the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is too. The owners love Radiohead, Bjork, Red Hot Chili Peppers... so the music is always great. Quite a hidden gem in Yoka. Friday and Saturday nights can be busy, so making a reservation is advised.

Sushi Funaki (寿司ふなき)

A nice little sushi place that serves a mean katsudon.

Kouran (香蘭)

Great little Chinese restaurant. Better food and bigger portions than Ossho. Look for a little brick building on the right side of Route 9, heading towards Sekinomiya. No romaji on the sign, but the kanji is 中華料理香蘭. There are no English menus, but some pictures of the food for the Japanese illiterate.

Vegebus

Wraps in Japan! And in the inaka no less. Vegebus is more of a take-out restaurant, though they do have a couple of chairs. Phone in your order ahead of time and then pick it up at their location next to the post office in Yoka. They have a menu on their website, but it doesn't look to be complete.

Casetta

Italian fare. Pizza and pasta. Careful driving here because it's on a one way road.

Wadayama (和田山)

Takeno (竹野)

Yamazato (山里)

The signature dish is soba, but their teishoku offerings are very tasty as well! Located very conveniently just off of highway 178, as you enter Takeno. They are closed Wednesdays.

Fukuchiyama

Ikkoku いっこく

A little bit of a drive from Toyooka, but really tasty ramen with complimentary kimchi. You can also get one complimentary "refill" of your ramen.
