A number of newbies have asked us for details about what happens after they get to Tokyo. While CLAIR will have various workshops planned for you during Tokyo Orientation, your schedule with us is pretty simple

Contents

[edit] Sunday

Arrive in Tokyo. At Narita airport, you will be met by people with CLAIR who will take one of your pieces of luggage and send it to your contracting organization. You will then be led to a bus that will take you to the Keio Plaza Hotel. You will only be able to bring one large suitcase and your carry-on bag to your hotel.

[edit] Monday and Tuesday

Tokyo Post Arrival Orientation.

[edit] Tuesday Afternoon

A group of Hyogo advisors, including one of the CIRs and members of the BOE will meet you and tell you about Wednesday's logistics as well as some other useful information.

[edit] Tuesday Evening

We will collect everyone's other large suitcase and send them ahead of us. As long as you turn in your luggage on Tuesday evening, you will not be responsible for the cost of the shipping, so please take advantage of this. At this point you will only have your carry-on luggage.

[edit] Wednesday

We will all take the shinkansen to Osaka, and get on a bus to Kato-shi, Hyogo. One or two teachers from your school/BOE (often your go-between) will pick you up there. You will pick up the luggage that you sent from the hotel on Tuesday Evening and take it with you to your school or BOE.

[edit] Wednesday Afternoon

After that will depend on your school. You might be able to move into your new apartment right away, or they might be getting it cleaned, in which case you might have to stay with one of your teachers. No matter what the case, your school/BOE will take care of you.
