Kicchiri Kitchen: Ramen Burger

I don’t think this can technically be classed as Japanese food but this heart attack handful is a trendy alternative to the American hamburger.

Ingredients

Instant ramen (not a Cup Noodle – the packet kind!)

1 egg

100g minced meat (pork or beef)

A pinch of chopped spring onions

1 tsp soy sauce

Vegetable oil

Topping suggestions: lettuce, fried egg, tomato, pak choi

Serves 1

  1. Cook the instant ramen in salted water, don’t add the seasoning!
  2. Drain and cool the ramen for a few minutes.
  3. Beat an egg then mix in the ramen
  4. Split the ramen in two and mold into bun patties around 5 inches in width.
  5. Wrap the ramen patties in cling film and put in the fridge to chill
  6. Mix the minced meat, spring onions, soy sauce and half the ramen seasoning together and mold into a burger shape. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a separate pan, enough to cover the base of both ramen patties.
  8. Fry both for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until a little crisp.
  9. Build your ramen burger and eat greedily [tip: don’t eat in front of an audience, very messy]
