In Western countries, it seems that teriyaki is considered a very &#8216;Japanese&#8217; flavour, although it doesn&#8217;t seem to be so common in Japan. This recipe is extremely easy and adaptable, but most importantly it is absolutely delicious!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<br \/>\n(serves 4)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4 pieces of Japanese Spanish Mackerel (sawara \u00e9\u00b0\u2020)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>(this fish can be substituted with chicken, pork, or another type of fish)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1 onion<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1 red bell pepper\/capsicum<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1 piece of ginger<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1 bunch spring onions<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00c2\u00bd cup soy sauce<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00c2\u00bd cup sake (cooking sake or one cup sake)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00c2\u00bd cup mirin (sweet cooking sake)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>a little oil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-1227\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hyogoajet.net\/hyogotimes\/2011\/08\/15\/kicchiri-kitchen-teriyaki-%e7%85%a7%e3%82%8a%e7%84%bc%e3%81%8d\/img_0894\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1227 alignright\" title=\"Teriyaki 1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hyogoajet.net\/hyogotimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/IMG_0894-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hyogoajet.net\/hyogotimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/IMG_0894-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.hyogoajet.net\/hyogotimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/IMG_0894-336x450.jpg 336w, https:\/\/www.hyogoajet.net\/hyogotimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/IMG_0894.jpg 1936w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>cut the onion and the red bell pepper into wedges<\/li>\n<li>thinly slice the ginger and then cut into thin strips<\/li>\n<li>saut\u00c3\u00a9 the onion and red bell pepper with a little oil, add salt      and pepper to it<\/li>\n<li>remove the onion and red bell pepper from the pan<\/li>\n<li>cut the spring onions into 4cm long pieces<\/li>\n<li>reheat the pan with a little oil, add the fish or meat to the      pan, and cook both sides<\/li>\n<li>when the fish or meat is cooked, add the spring onions and      ginger to the pan<\/li>\n<li>pour the soy sauce, sake, and mirin over the fish\/meat<\/li>\n<li>serve with the onions and red bell pepper<\/li>\n<li>heat the remaining teriyaki sauce until it reduces a little and      thickens, pour over the fish\/meat<\/li>\n<li>serve with rice and miso soup and enjoy!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Teriyaki can be any fish or meat that has been cooked or broiled in a sweet soy sauce.
