What is the JLPT?<\/strong><\/p>\n

– The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT, \u00e6\u2014\u00a5\u00e6\u0153\u00ac\u00e8\u00aa\u017e\u00e8\u0192\u00bd\u00e5\u0160\u203a\u00e8\u00a9\u00a6\u00e9\u00a8\u201c) is a test of Japanese language ability designed for foreigners. \u00c2\u00a0It tests primarily reading and listening skills. \u00c2\u00a0It is a great way to motivate yourself to learn Japanese as well as a tool to measure your Japanese ability. \u00c2\u00a0The certificate can also be used as more concrete “proof” of Japanese proficiency.<\/p>\n

When is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Twice a year, summer and winter. \u00c2\u00a0Next one is Sunday, December 4th from 12 noon. \u00c2\u00a0Test takes about 4 hours.<\/p>\n

Where is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

– You can take the test within Hyogo. \u00c2\u00a0The exact location will be mailed to you in mid-November after you apply.<\/p>\n

How many levels are there?<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Five. \u00c2\u00a0N5 (easiest) to N1 (most difficult). \u00c2\u00a0My personal opinions of them are at the end of this article (since it’s not official)! \u00c2\u00a0But sample questions are offered here:\u00c2\u00a0http:\/\/www.jlpt.jp\/e\/samples\/forlearners.html<\/a><\/p>\n

1. \u00c2\u00a0Purchase an “application guide” (\u00e5\u008f\u2014\u00e9\u00a8\u201c\u00e6\u00a1\u02c6\u00e5\u2020\u2026\u00e3\u20ac\u20ac\u00e3\u0081\u02dc\u00e3\u201a\u2026\u00e3\u0081\u2018\u00e3\u201a\u201c\u00e3\u0081\u201a\u00e3\u201a\u201c\u00e3\u0081\u00aa\u00e3\u0081\u201e). \u00c2\u00a0It is called a “juken annai” (lit. test information) or “moushikomi youshi” (application form) from a bookstore below. \u00c2\u00a0It will be 500 yen.<\/p>\n
